Birdtalker have cultivated a special connection with their listeners through their blend of pulsing Americana/folk/pop, honest lyrics, and breathtaking harmonies.
They released their debut album One in 2018, featuring their breakout single “Heavy,” which has now amassed over 80 million streams on Spotify alone.
The follow-up to their 2018 critically acclaimed debut One, Birdtalker find solid ground with their self-titled sophomore album and step into their own with their most confident and unrestrained set of songs to date. Fronted by Zack and Dani Green, along with Brian Seligman (guitar), Jesse Baker (bass), and newcomer Chris Wilson (drums/percussion), Birdtalker explore how to navigate the unknown, embrace uncertainty, and learn to let go. With the unexpected success of their 2017 breakout single "Heavy" (now over 80 million streams), the band had to write, record, and release their first album with a sense of urgency. The whirlwind debut (which garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR Music, Billboard, World Cafe, American Songwriter, and Relix among others) led to non-stop touring, festival appearances, and even their debut performance on the world famous Grand Ole Opry.
This time around, the group found themselves much more comfortable in their own skin with no deadlines, zero restrictions, and a crystal-clear vision. It allowed them the time and space to be more explorative and curious, which can be heard in the expanded sonic palette across the album and the creative confident songwriting. The band recently spoke with Ditty TV and stated, "This new record was made from a place where urgency and timeline were non-issues. It was strangely aligned for us to hole up, write, and get into the studio to make these songs. The freedom that space provided contributed to a lot of exploration and collaboration with the whole band in a way we had not yet experienced. I think the arrangements are cleverer, the lyrics feel more lived in, and the energy in the performances reflects the joy it was to create."
