The grace and wisdom of longtime fiddle player and multi-instrumentalist Bruce Molsky, Berklee College of Music’s Visiting Scholar in the American Roots Program, described as “an absolute master” (No Depression) melds with the electricity of guitarist Stash Wyslouch, “a brilliant and free-thinking mind” (Chris Eldridge, Punch Brothers) and banjo player Allison de Groot’s “exquisite tone, timing, and taste” (Tony Trishka) to bring new ideas to traditional music. The Mountain Drifters are delighted announce the release of their 2nd album, Closing the Gap (Allison's original composition for banjo & band).
Closing The Gap is the Mountain Drifters in their natural and instinctual state; raw, playful and free, the way the music is meant to be. The music is hopeful and optimistic and comes from the heart, and the recording starts with “There’s a bright side somewhere, ain’t gonna rest until I find it.”
The title track, Allison de Groot's “Closing the Gap” feels like a race. Each note tries to catch up with the next, narrowing the gap and steadily propelling the tune from one section to the next. . .

| For Gadditude, his tenth outing as a leader and second for BFM Jazz, world class drummer Steve Gadd got a little help from his distinguished friends – guitarist Michael Landau, keyboardist Larry Goldings, trumpeter Walt Fowler and bassist Jimmy Johnson. Together they had already established a high degree of bandstand chemistry as the touring band for superstar singer-songwriter James Taylor. Greatest Hits Live! Featuring the "You're An Ocean" and "The Way." Formed in 1994 in Austin, Texas, Fastball combined a fondness for melodic, Beatles-inspired pop with the alternative aesthetic of late-'90s mainstream rock. Guitarist/vocalist Miles Zuniga, bassist/vocalist Tony Scalzo, and drummer Joey Shuffield — all veterans of Austin's underground rock scene — originally banded together under the name Magneto U.S.A. After signing a major label deal, the musicians changed their name to Fastball and released their debut album, Make Your Mama Proud, in 1996. The album demonstrated the band's synthesis of modern flavor and bygone pop hooks, a combination that would later launch Fastball into the mainstream. The follow-up effort, All the Pain Money Can Buy, appeared in early 1998, featuring a considerably tighter band and more pop flourishes. Although the bandmates were still working side jobs at the time of its release, lead-off single "The Way" proved to be a meteoric hit, topping the American rock charts for seven weeks while enjoying crossover success as a pop single. "Fire Escape" and the piano-fueled "Out of My Head" did similarly well, and All the Pain Money Can Buy went platinum within six months of its release, earning two Grammy nominations along the way. Fastball will be on tour for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. As you may or may not know, philanthropy has been a big part of my life for a long time. I've found that artists like myself are uniquely positioned to raise awareness and make a difference in our own communities and beyond. As such, about a year ago, I decided to make philanthropy a more permanent part of my life by establishing the SOS Foundation. The goal here is to use music, both recorded and live, to raise money for causes I'm passionate about. With the help of some amazing people, I'm happy to announce the upcoming release of the first SOS Foundation record. This is a follow up of a record we put out years ago called SOS:Save Our Soul, which was a covers record. This new record will be similar except that we dug a little deeper into history and pulled together a fantastic playlist of cover songs ranging from Wilson Pickett, Solomon Burke, Aretha Franklin and many more. Most importantly, 50% of all profits will go to our charitable partner, City Of Refuge. City Of Refuge is an Atlanta, GA based organization that does some of the most comprehensive work, dealing with homelessness and poverty, in the country! My first encounter with COR was 2 years ago when I performed for one of their fundraisers in Atlanta. I was able to meet with the folks that work there and the folks that are served by the work that COR does. I was so impressed with what I saw that day that I began to research more about the group and, needless to say, became convinced that I wanted to get involved in any way I could. Through vocational training, youth education, and lifetime job placement assistance, COR is more successful at getting people permanently out of poverty than any other program I've ever seen. You can see for yourself the amazing work they're doing at City of Refuge .
